Video: Man With Knife on Traffic Stop

The number of things that need to be considered in a deadly force incident are so numerous with so many variables it’s impossible to train sufficiently.  Intoxicated man with a knife, officers in the roadway, traffic behind the officers, close proximity, split second decision.  Videos like this need be shared for discussion and training considerations.

A man suspected of drunk driving has a knife in his right sleeve.  Officers recognize the threat and draw their weapons. The suspect refuses to drop the knife and advances towards the deputy.  The deputy fired and struck the suspect twice. The suspect is alive and recovering.
