Woman Grabs Officer’s Weapon and Fires

April 27, 2015

A woman was arrested after wrestling with a police officer and firing his gun Sunday in the Normal Heights area, according to police.

The suspect was identified as 31 year old Chelsea Saunders of San Diego. Police said she had crossed the street, and when an officer tried to place her into custody, she refused to be handcuffed and wrestled with the police officer before reaching for his holster and firing his gun. The shot struck the officer’s pant leg, but no one was hurt during the incident.

A witness describes the confrontation in the following video.  According to Gerald Delarosa, “she reaches for the cop’s holster and grabs the gun, but didn’t pull it out, just squeezed the trigger right in the gun’s holster.”
