Phoenix Officer Shot During Traffic Stop

According to Phoenix Police Department, an officer was shot multiple times during a traffic stop this morning.  The officer is expected to recover from his wounds.  Phoenix Police Department stated that his vest may have saved his life.

Phoenix Police Department have three people detained in connection with the shooting, including the suspected shooter. Michael James Rogers, 26, was booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail on two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer and one count of unlawful flight from law enforcement.

“Our detectives have been working consistently  straight through the day,” said Sgt. Jonathan Howard, a Phoenix police spokesman. “We are confident that we have the right people, and at least a couple of them have already made statements that would incriminate them in this morning’s crime.”
