Dashcam: Bulletproof Vest Saves Deputy

A man who was wanted for an October 5th robbery shot at deputies when they attempted to arrest him.

The video shows the robbery suspect, Timothy Thomas, emerge from his vehicle with at least one hand in the air before he fires several rounds at the deputies.  Deputy Josh Gordon was hit in the chest but had only minor injuries, thanks to his bulletproof vest.

Thomas fled the scene and was located the next day. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office learned that Thomas was hiding inside a home with two gunshot wounds from the gunfire exchange the night before.  After a perimeter was set up, Thomas was convinced to come out of the house and surrender.
