BODYCAM: Fla. Officer, Nearly Run Over, Returns Fire

On January 16, 2016, at approximately 12:05 a.m., officers in Orlando, Fla., attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle occupied by three suspects. The officers exited their vehicle as the Dodge Charger began reversing in an attempt to flee. As officers approached the vehicle, however, the driver abruptly advanced forward, nearly striking one of the officers, and the officer returned fire. The driver fled the scene and crashed into an abandoned home.

The driver, is identified as Trevon A. Lamons. He was later apprehended and transported to the hospital. He is in stable condition. Two suspects are outstanding.

The officer was not injured during the encounter.
