DASHCAM: S.F. Cruiser Hits Cyclist

May 16, 2016

Dashboard camera video shows a San Francisco police patrol car pulling into a San Francisco bike lane and hitting a cyclist.

The man struck by the police car and treated at San Francisco GeneralHospital for his injuries is Tim Doyle. He said that despite everything that’s happened he says he has no ill will towards San Francisco police.

“All things considered I am lucky to be alive you know,” Doyle said.

The entire incident was caught on a dashcam video and uploaded to YouTube.

Doyle said he was on his way to a book signing and was was trying to beat a yellow light at Second and Mission streets, but he never got past the intersection.

“It was just bang, bang and according to them I flew through the air and I landed up in the intersection,” Doyle said.

Doyle was released from San Francisco General Hospital early Friday morning and said his bike ended up a lot better than he did.

Tim has a hairline fracture in his back, bruised ribs and hematoma on his calf.
