November 7, 2016

From Cleveland19.com:

Police are looking for a person who fought with an officer in Oakwood Village and stole a cruiser.

Officer Mike Smith stopped a stolen vehicle at around 11 a.m. Tuesday. Police said the vehicle pulled over but drove off as Smith stopped his cruiser.

Police said the driver took I-271 to Interstate 480 west and exited at Lee Road before crashing into another car. They said he tried to get into several other cars, but Smith used a Taser on him in the process.

Smith tried to put handcuffs on him, but police say he began fighting with the officer. A man nearby came to the aid of the officer.

Police say the driver got the Taser, jumped into the cruiser and drove away. The cruiser was abandoned in Cleveland. Police believe he fled on foot. They also say he might be armed.

The driver is believed to be a suspect in several armed robberies in the Cleveland area. Smith was treated and released from a local hospital.
