LT. KELLY DEVOLL

Lieutenant Kelly DeVoll is a 30-year veteran of law enforcement and began his career with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, in Beaumont, Texas in May 1989. Since entering law enforcement Lt. DeVoll has served as a corrections officer, patrol officer, D.A.R.E. officer and supervisor, SWAT operator, forensic crime scene supervisor, patrol sergeant, school resource officer, and law enforcement trainer.  Lt. DeVoll has been teaching law enforcement courses since 1992.

Lt. DeVoll started working for the Georgetown Police Department in July 1998 and is currently serving as a patrol commander. Lt. DeVoll has served as the Professional Standards division commander as well as training coordinator for GPD.

Lt. DeVoll was responsible for the development of the tactical team at Georgetown PD and served as tactical commander for GPD since the inception of the team in 2000. He was also selected to serve as a member of the command staff for the Central Texas Regional SWAT team when the team was formed in 2015. In 2017 Lt. DeVoll was selected as the City-Wide Supervisor of the Year for the City of Georgetown, Texas.

In his time as a law enforcement instructor Lt. DeVoll has taught tactics courses, firearms courses, law enforcement instructor courses, SWAT courses, and numerous other classes. He has instructed across the United States and Canada. Lt. DeVoll attended Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas and has attended numerous law enforcement leadership training including the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT) based out of Sam Houston State University. Lt. DeVoll teaches Street Survival, Road Wise, Reading People, Finding the Leader in You, De-escalation, Intervention & Force Mitigation, and Tactical Advantage for Calibre Press.
